Booking & Payment

Yes, we accept provisional bookings. Normally, we will hold a provisional booking for two weeks, but we can hold longer if wished and we will notify you when the course(s) are becoming full.
Cancellations made up to four weeks before the course date do not incur a cancellation fee. Otherwise, withdrawal from a course without a replacement from your organisation will incur a cancellation fee of 20% if the cancellation is within 2 and 4 weeks of the course, 50% if within 2 weeks and 100% if cancelled on the course date – unless there are exceptional reasons.
We ask for payment within 30 days of the invoice date because of our need to pay VAT on invoices on a regular basis. But if you wish to have extended payment terms or pay in stages, please contact us.
We accept payments by cheque, to ‘JDD Consultants’, or by BACS to the bank account set out on the invoice. We also now accept payment by credit card/debit card by phone to 01234 294049.
The course fee covers the tutoring during the course (and any feedback on pre-course or post-course work) and the course materials/handouts. Unlike many other courses, it also includes meals (as specified in the course leaflet) and accommodation on the night of each 1.5-2 day course. It also includes access to the sports centre at the training centre, which includes a swimming pool and gym.
Extra accommodation can be booked the night before a course for £70+VAT, for bed and breakfast, or £95+VAT, for dinner, bed and breakfast. If accommodation is needed between courses, there is a special rate of £60+VAT. If accommodation is not needed for a 1.5-2 day course, the course fee will be reduced by £95+VAT.
We offer a 5% discount on course fees where five or more places/courses are booked by a firm or individual. We also offer a greater promotion for those who book all five Foundation courses: details are set out on the Foundation courses page. There are also discounts for re-sitters who have attended the course in previous years.

At and before the courses

Details of pre-course work will be set in the Joining Instructions, which we send to delegates at least a month before the courses. We will look to send out pre-course guidance on reading, well before this. For Foundation Certificate courses, pre-course work involves directed reading and you may be asked to write an answer to a specified past paper or set of questions. For Final Diploma courses, we will also provide direction on pre-course reading and practice and the tutors will ask you to look at attempt, or read in detail, specific pre-course papers.
You should bring writing paper and pens, along with any relevant textbooks as set out in the Joining Instructions. There is no specific dress code: the photos of past courses shown on the website show what delegates typically wear – typically ‘smart casual’. You should also bring a swimming costume and trainers/sports clothes to make use of the leisure centre at the venue, which is open early in the morning before courses to late at night.
Course sizes and approaches vary, ranging typically from six to twenty delegates. Sizes are typically larger for the Foundation Certificate courses, where there is greater emphasis on the transmission of key information by the tutors, whereas Final Diploma courses tend to be smaller, more hands-on and interactive, focusing on developing individual skills and technique.
There is a wide choice of food options available at the venue, including usually a variety of meat and fish dishes, a vegetarian option (always) and a salad bar. If you have particular allergies or food needs, please let us know so that we can ensure the venue is able to cater for these.

Complaints policy

We are committed to a high and improving quality of service and listen and respond to the views of course attendees and their firms, tutors and other stakeholders.
At the end of each course, we ask attendees to complete an evaluation form. These we collate and analyse, and we share anonymised summaries with tutors.
Evaluations provide important feedback and suggestions, which we act on to adjust course timing, length and format.

Where you are not satisfied with a course you have attended, we welcome your comments in a complaint email (to jdd.consultants@ntlworld.com) or letter (to JDD Consultants, 5 Tennyson Road, Bedford, MK40 3SB).
We investigate each complaint and respond promptly (within 14 days), setting out the results of our investigation, any actions we have taken and any proposed remedies.
